In 2012, OSHA modified its Hazardous Communication System to align with the United Nations Globally Harmonized System(GHS) of classification and labeling of chemicals. Nine pictograms were established for easy identification of hazardous chemicals. Along with the pictograms, a system of hazards, precautionary statements and signal words was incorporated. The name MSDS was now replaced with SDS and the establishment of a new 16-section SDS with specific requirements for each section.
SPEX CertiPrep has already begun updating its labeling and SDS systems to align with these new regulations and you may have already seen the new pictograms on many of our products. The completion date for all new products, not already on your stockroom shelves, was June 1st with final completion on all of our products by December 1st of this year.
All SPEX CertiPrep products manufactured after June 1st, 2015, will be labeled with the new pictograms, signal words and precautionary statements as required under this new system. Products that were labeled prior to June 1st may or may not have the required labeling. However, by December 1st of this year, all SPEX CertiPrep products will have the new labeling.
SPEX CertiPrep Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are compliant with the new regulations and are available online through out web site. If you require an SDS in a different language please contact us and we will provide you with an SDS in the language you request. GHS labels are also available in a variety of different languages either in a booklet form with multiple languages or on the product label in a specific language as requested when an order is placed.
